P3 and Standards Developers
The P3 project is the perfect tie-in to the
United States Standards Strategy.
This project also helps to advance a goal of the
ANSI Committee on Education to raise awareness of standards and
incorporate standards-related information into the curriculum of colleges and
universities. All who are involved agree that a better understanding of the
importance of standards – both in the design experience and in practice in the
working world – benefits students in every discipline. Even a rudimentary
understanding of standardization and the assessment of conformity will give the
future workforce a competitive edge when entering the marketplace and will pave
the way for a stronger reliance.
“By providing standards-related information and resources to these student teams
and their faculty advisors, we are defining a ‘real-world’ relationship between
design, standards and conformity assessment,” explained Dr. William E. Kelly,
professor of civil engineering at The Catholic University of America and
chairman of the ANSI committee on education.

specific standards information, resources and contacts at standard developing
organizations
