ACTION AND REACTION: Developing a sustainable approach to
emerging chemical issues
View executive summary
Action and Reaction: Developing a sustainable approach to emerging chemical issues brought together nearly 120 stakeholders from the public and private sectors to address the mounting pressure on global manufacturers arising from chemical controls and government regulatory programs such as REACH, RoHS, WEEE, SAICM and GHS.
A pre-conference survey solicited stakeholder input on the key issues of inerest and concern; survey responses helped to shape discussions during the two-day event.
Conference outcomes were aimed at launching collaborative initiatives that will help to balance the economic impact of controls and regulations in areas such as chemical security, waste management, energy efficiencies, and other environmental and production activities with activities that help to promote and enhance safety, health and the quality of life.
Conference attendees represented a broad range of industries, government agencies, scientific and technical organizations, standards developers and conformity assessment bodies, as well as other stakeholder groups.
