NFPA Announces Launch of New NEC Website for Electrical Community Stakeholders
ANSI member and audited designator the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recently established a new online resource associated with NFPA 70, National Electrical Code. The National Electrical Code (NEC) is an essential resource for electrical contractors, engineers, designers, and others in the greater electrical sector, and the new website, NEC Connect, is designed to help keep users up-to-date on the latest information about electrical guidelines and safety, while also providing a forum where electrical professionals can communicate, network, and interact online.
The new site is open to all and can be accessed free of charge. All users of NEC Connect can use the site to view relevant industry articles, technical information, and multimedia content, among other features; users who register for free with the site are also given access to exclusive how-to guides, advice from industry experts, and significant case studies.

Upcoming SES Webinar on Standards in the Classroom
ANSI member and accredited standards developer SES - The Society for Standards Professionals will hold a webinar focused on voluntary consensus standards and their use in the classroom on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. eastern. The webinar will provide a look at the impact of recent mandatory ABET outcomes-based engineering accreditation criteria on engineering programs, along with other topics related to sustainability and engineering training.
The webinar will be led by William Kelly, Ph.D., the director of external affairs for the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). Dr. Kelly oversees ASEE's ABET accreditation activities, the Engineering Dean's Council, and other related work.
The webinar is offered free of charge to all current SES members and costs $50 for non-members. Under a reciprocal agreement between the two organizations, ANSI full member technical contacts are considered SES members and can take part in the webinar at no cost. Webinar on New EU Nanomaterials Laws Announced
The U.S. Commercial Service, a division of the U.S. Department of Commerce (DoC)'s International Trade Administration (ITA), has announced that it will hold a webinar covering ongoing alterations in regulatory requirements for nanomaterials imported into the European Union. The webinar will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2013, beginning at 11:00 a.m. eastern.
During the webinar, participants will be briefed on new requirements related to nanomaterials affecting U.S. importers, and will receive overviews of regulatory and legal issues related to these pending changes, as well as a case study intended to illustrate real-world complications associated with the alterations. Two representatives of U.S.-based multinational law firm Steptoe & Johnson - Dr. Anna Gergely, the director of Steptoe & Johnson's Environment, Health, and Safety Practice Group, and Indiana se Seze, a senior associate with Steptoe & Johnson's Environment and Life Sciences Regulatory & Industry Affairs Department - will also deliver keynote remarks during the webinar.

AAMA Applies to Become ANSI Accredited Standards Developer ANSI organizational member the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) has submitted an application to become an ANSI-accredited standards developer, and has submitted proposed operating procedures overseeing the documenting of consensus on proposed AAMA-sponsored American National Standards (ANS). AAMA's proposed scope is focused on the development of standards containing specifications, guides, and test methods related to the field of fenestration.
