The U.S. National Committee of the International Electrotechnical
Commission (IEC) is pleased to support Mr. Frank K. Kitzantides as a candidate
for IEC Vice President and Chairman of the Standardization Management Board
|
Nomination
On behalf of the United States National Committee (USNC) of the International
Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), a committee of the American National
Standards Institute (ANSI), we are pleased to announce the nomination of Mr.
Frank K. Kitzantides as a candidate for the office of IEC Vice President and
Chairman of the Standardization Management Board (SMB) for the term beginning
in 2004 and ending in 2006.
The USNC believes that Mr. Kitzantides is uniquely qualified to provide
leadership to the SMB and support to the IEC as it implements its strategic
plan for the future. He has a distinguished history in the international
standardization and conformity assessment arenas with significant experience
and proven capabilities working both domestically and in the international
community.
Mr. Kitzantides currently serves as a Vice President of the USNC and chairs its
Technical Management Committee. On the international level, he has been active
in IEC since 1979 and attended his first General Meeting in 1985. Mr.
Kitzantides also serves as Chairman of the IECEE, which operates the CB Scheme
— a worldwide agreement program for mutual recognition of test results among
national certification bodies — and is a member of the IEC Conformity
Assessment Board. He has been the U.S. member of the technical management arm
of the IEC — the Standardization Management Board and its predecessor, the
Committee of Action — since 1987. He has also been the U.S. Technical Advisor
for IEC Technical Committee 23, Electrical Accessories, since 1981.
Mr. Kitzantides has had practical, hands-on experience with IEC procedures and
operations at all levels of the organization from Working Group Expert to
Council Delegate. He has been actively involved in the development of technical
management issues important to IEC such as Sector Board membership, a weighted
voting proposal and the IEC Global Relevance Policy.
The U.S. candidate currently serves as Vice President of Engineering for the
National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA). He has been with the
organization for more than twenty-five years and represents the NEMA on
governing and technical committees of several national, regional and
international organizations.
The USNC believes that his standards, engineering and leadership credentials
make Mr. Kitzantides uniquely qualified for the office of IEC Vice President
and SMB Chairman. We invite your support of this nomination and encourage your
affirmative vote for Mr. Kitzantides at the IEC 67th General Meeting in
Montreal, Canada in October 2003.
Thank you.
