ANSI-HELD ISO Secreteriats
While it is general ANSI practice to delegate ISO committee secretariats to
other US organizations, ANSI staff does administer secretariats at the request
of specific industries or other ANSI constituents. These secretariats are
administered on a full cost recovery basis and paid for by the affected US
industry sector.
In relation to ANSI directly administered secretariats, ANSI staff:
-
Prepare and monitor specific program budgets and ensure that each program is
administered on a cost recovery basis;
-
Establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships and
networks across a very broad range of industry, government, consumer etc
representatives both nationally and internationally;
-
Work with the international committee Chairman and the related US Technical
Advisory Group (TAG) members to ensure that the committee work program is
advanced in a timely and efficient manner, that the ISO procedures are followed
to reach international consensus, and that political and technical issues are
resolved as quickly and fairly as possible so that the standard can reach
completion;
-
Organize, support and attend approximately 20 international meetings annually.
This includes working with the host country on meeting logistics and
arrangements, working with the Chairman and US TAG members in developing
the meeting agenda (many agendas are now developed in html with "hot-links" to
PDF or html documents against specific agenda items which has increased meeting
efficiency, reduced administrative costs and facilitated review of documents),
providing procedural advice and guidance to the meeting delegates, drafting and
executing the meeting resolutions and writing the meeting report/minutes;
-
Attend approximately 22 US Technical Advisory Group meetings annually to
provide procedural advice and guidance to the US TAG members;
-
Manage all stages of standards- in -development for the specific committee.
This requires timely and efficient issuance (web-based or hard copy) and
tracking of a significant number of documents including ballots, drafts,
contributions etc, and the creation and maintenance of program management
documents (e.g., business plans).
-
Develop and manage committee web sites used for distribution of documents to
committee members and for publicizing the committee's work to the general
public;
-
Develop and manage electronic balloting systems (ISO/IEC JTC1 only at this
time);
