Proposals due by January
23: The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is now accepting proposal
submissions for up to $3M in funding under the Technical Assistance and
Workforce Development Program to support the development of standards for
public transportation.
As the U.S. member body to the International Organization
for Standardization (ISO), ANSI encourages U.S. stakeholders to participate in two
ISO ideation virtual workshops. The workshops on December 1 and December 8
are designed to discuss the future trajectories of energy sources and
sustainable production and collect ideas from stakeholders for future
standardization opportunities.
ANSI recently spoke with Muhammad Ali, the senior standards
strategy and policy leader for HP, Inc. and co-vice chair of the ANSI Committee
on Education, about how a college project showed him the power of standards,
and his latest venture in educating the next generation of leaders so that they
have a greater impact on standardization development and the world.
The ANSI Federation and standardization community are
stepping up with guidance, resources, and initiatives to support public health
and safety and the nation's recovery. In this issue:

- The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) has announced that Greg Lewis, executive vice president communication and promotion strategy, has been promoted to the newly created position of chief communications officer. NRMCA also announced that Tim Cooper is its executive vice president, human resources.
- The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has announced the appointment of Laura King as regional director of Canada, NFPA.
