In an effort to support decision-making related to the safe measurement of manufactured nanomaterials (MNM) released in consumer products, a new technical report co-led by the U.S. and Canada provides guidance for numerous sectors that use MNM. The report was a project of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee (TC) 229, Nanotechnologies, Working Group 3, Health, safety and environment. Experts from the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO TC 229 spearheaded the guidance. ANSI, which administers the U.S. TAG for ISO TC 229, is the U.S. member body to ISO.
Smart farming refers to the modern use of information and communication technologies in agriculture. As the U.S. member body to ISO, ANSI invites prospective experts and leaders to join a new ISO Strategic Advisory Group (SAG) on smart farming, recently formed by the ISO Technical Management Board. ANSI and DIN, the German national organization for standardization, will co-lead the group, which was created to help address increasing pressure on the food chain from global challenges such as climate change, population growth, and risk from pandemics.

The U.S. National Committee (USNC) of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is seeking participants and a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) Administrator for the USNC TAG to IEC/Subcommittee 59N: Electrical air cleaners for household and similar purposes.
The ANSI National Accreditation Board, a wholly owned subsidiary of ANSI, is accepting nominations from interested persons to serve on its Personnel Certification Accreditation Committee. Nominations must be received by Friday, August 20, 2021, and are for three-year terms beginning January 1, 2022.

The U.S. Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has issued a request for submissions on suggestions and feedback on the challenges and practical approaches to consumer software labeling. Responses, due by August 17, will help NIST to carry out one of its multiple assignments in the Executive Order 14028, Improving the Nation's Cybersecurity.
As part of its broader effort to manage risks posed by artificial intelligence, NIST has issued a request for information (RFI) from the public to inform the development of AI risk management guidance. Submit feedback by August 19.
