Ernest Grant, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, and current president of the American Nurses Association, has been selected by the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day Planning Committee as the 2021 recipient of the prestigious Ronald H. Brown Standards Leadership Award. Named for the late U.S. Secretary of Commerce, the
Ronald Brown Award recognizes demonstrated leadership in promoting the
important role of standardization in eliminating global barriers to trade. Members of the U.S. standards and conformance
community will honor Dr. Grant during the U.S. Celebration of World Standards
Day.
In an effort to highlight the critical role of standards-driven digital infrastructure and mobile digital technologies, ANSI encourages relevant stakeholders to register for the upcoming U.S.-DRC Connectivity Standards and Digital Infrastructure Workshop on June 16-17.
Information from ANSI's survey on methods or guidance materials that measure the impact of voluntary standards on human health will help to inform planning for a meeting on this topic. Survey responses are requested by June 7, 2021.
Send your nominations for outstanding emerging electrotechnology professionals to participate in an in-depth, five-day IEC Young Professionals 2021 Workshop, scheduled for October 3-7, 2021, in conjunction with the 85th IEC General Meeting in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Young Professionals Workshop, in its twelfth year, aims to bolster the future of technology transfer, and long-term national involvement in the international standardization arena. Nominations are due by July 16, 2021.
In celebration of standards and their significant impact on the world, SES- The Society for Standards Professionals and the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day Planning Committee will co-sponsor an annual paper competition for individuals in the U.S. standards community. Winners will be announced and presented their awards at the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day, which will be held this year on October 28, 2021.
In an effort to increase stakeholder engagement and collaboration and reduce duplicative work, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) have coordinated the publication of a monthly document that lists all new work items from the three organizations, including updates on the projects and timelines for the technical committees' work.
