In an effort to support decision-making related to the safe measurement of manufactured nanomaterials (MNM) released in consumer products, a new technical report co-led by the U.S. and Canada provides guidance for numerous sectors that use MNM. The report was a project of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee (TC) 229, Nanotechnologies, Working Group 3, Health, safety and environment. Experts from the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO TC 229 spearheaded the guidance. ANSI, which administers the U.S. TAG for ISO TC 229, is the U.S. member body to ISO.
Respond by August 27: As the U.S. member body to ISO, ANSI is seeking prospective experts for a newly formed ISO Strategic Advisory Group in the Environmental, Social, and Governance Ecosystem (SAG ESG). ANSI is also seeking members for the ANSI virtual technical advisory group to support the ANSI experts on the ISO SAG ESG.
The ANSI National Accreditation Board, a wholly owned subsidiary of ANSI, has launched a new pilot accreditation program for the Journalism Trust Initiative (JTI) - Certification Program. The JTI aims to support journalism by recognizing compliance with ethical norms and professional best practices.
Attend the virtual CLEAN Lessons Learned Summit, which will highlight efforts in response to COVID-19. A series of monthly live-streamed events, "CLEAN Lessons Learned" features expert-led sessions, covering current best practices, data-driven solutions, and innovative technologies to help people feel confident and safe gathering indoors.

Mark your calendars! The celebratory events originally scheduled for World Standards Week 2021, including the ANSI Leadership and Service Awards Ceremony and the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day, will take place in-person in Washington DC on May 17-20, 2022. Looking ahead, World Standards Week 2022 will take place October 10-14. Both weeks will take place in Washington DC.
ANSI and its Committee on Education (CoE) are pleased to announce that Jannatul Bushra and Habibor Rahman of the University of Arizona are the first-place winners of the annual ANSI student paper competition. The competition, focused on the 2021 theme, "The Use of Standards in the Fight against COVID-19," is part of an ANSI-led effort to raise awareness about the strategic importance of standards and conformance among U.S. undergraduate and graduate students.
ANSI's international policy department has released the 2021 second quarter edition of its ANSI in China Newsletter, available in English and Chinese versions. The quarterly newsletter updates ANSI members on technical activities, policy decisions, trade matters, and other information of interest.
