ANSI-CFP Accreditation Committee (ACAC)

Overview

In 2002 ANSI entered into a cooperative agreement with the Conference for Food Protection (CFP) to accredit organizations involved in the certification of food protection managers in accordance with the CFP’s Standards for Accreditation of Food Protection Manager Certification Program.

The ANSI-CFP Accreditation Committee (ACAC) was created as the vehicle with which to implement this agreement, and is responsible for accrediting personnel certification bodies that certify food protection managers, specifically:

  • determining final decisions on accreditation matters;
  • creating and maintaining operational policies and procedures for the ANSI-CFP program;
  • assuring that necessary due process and public notice procedures are met;
  • marketing the program to promote understanding, recognition and acceptance of the program;
  • receiving first-level appeals relating to accreditation decisions

Members and Officers

Membership on the ACAC is balanced according to the agreement between ANSI and CFP: two members of the Committee are appointed by the CFP and the ACAC Chair and remaining members are appointed by ANSI.

The ACAC shall have a voting membership of not less than six and not more than ten persons. ACAC vacancies created by members leaving before the expiration of a term may be filled by appointment for the remainder of the term by the respective organizations they represent.
