4.2The accredited certification program number shall be printed with the accreditation mark. The accreditation four-digit number is printed on the accreditation certificate.
4.3Accredited certification programs shall base all reproductions of the accreditation marks on the master versions printed in the Annex A to this procedure. The masters included in the Annex A are suitable for use as originals (i.e. they may be photographed for process reproduction or otherwise copied).
4.4Where an accredited certification program wishes to refer to its ANSI-CFP accreditation without the use of the ANSI-CFP accreditation mark, it shall use the phrase, "An ANSI-CFP accredited Certifier - Accreditation Number,” without variation. The accredited certification program shall take all reasonable steps to ensure that any client when referring to the accredited certification program uses this precise wording.
4.5A certification program accredited by ANSI is entitled to display the ANSI-CFP accreditation mark or refer to ANSI-CFP accreditation on its organizational stationery / letterhead. The use of the mark is contingent upon the certification body identifying the specific scope(s) for which it is accredited. The scope of accreditation must be clearly indicated when using the accreditation mark. In particular, if there are multiple certification programs within a certification body and one or more are not accredited by ANSI, this must be clearly delineated and the accreditation mark cannot be used with those unaccredited programs.
4.6An accredited certification program or its clients shall not use the ANSI-CFP mark in any misleading manner. Nor shall it imply in their use of the accreditation mark or in any reference to ANSI-CFP accreditation that ANSI or the Conference for Food Protection specifically approves of its products or services.
4.7The ANSI-CFP accreditation mark may be displayed on organizational stationery / letterhead with the following conditions
a)only if the mark or title of the accredited certification program concerned is also shown;
b)with no more prominence than the mark /logo or title of the accredited certification program.
5ANSI-CFP Accreditation Mark or Reference to ANSI-CFP Accreditation
5.1The ANSI-CFP accreditation mark shall not be used in any way that might mislead the reader regarding the status of an accredited certification program.
5.2Accredited certification programs shall ensure that the ANSI-CFP accreditation mark it uses is the approved mark supplied to it by ANSI.
5.3All quotations that contain the ANSI-CFP mark or refer to ANSI-CFP accreditation shall clearly define the specific activities/programs that are ANSI accredited.
5.4When a certificate issued by an accredited certification program incorporates an ANSI-CFP accreditation mark, refers to the ANSI-CFP accreditation, or includes any of the appropriate disclaimers, the disclaimers shall preferably be included on the front cover or first page of each certificate or wherever the mark or reference to accreditation appears.
5.5The use of the ANSI-CFP accreditation mark alone or in combination with the certification body mark shall not be displayed on any product and packages.
5.6Accredited certification programs are entitled to use the phrase, “An ANSI-CFP accredited Certifier” in combination with its certification body mark. To use this phrase, the accredited certification program shall implement the following steps:
a)submit to ANSI the proposed certification body mark with proposed wording for approval prior to use;
b)bear responsibility for obtaining any required copyrights.
6Use of Mark or Reference to ANSI-CFP Accreditation in Publicity Material
6.1Accredited certification programs are entitled to incorporate an ANSI-CFP accreditation mark in publicity material that refers to accredited services provided that the conditions in this procedure are met. Accredited certification programs are also entitled to make general reference to the ANSI-CFP accreditation mark provided they ensure that ANSI accreditation is not implied for non-accredited activities.
6.2The terms “publicity material” shall not include notices, labels, documents, or written announcements affixed to or otherwise appearing on goods or products.
7Other Restriction on the Use of the ANSI-CFP Mark or Reference to ANSI-CFP Accreditation
7.1The ANSI-CFP accreditation mark shall not be used in any misleading manner. This includes the use of the mark in such a way as to imply that ANSI or the Conference for Food Protection has certified or approved any product or service supplied by a licensee of a mark. Neither ANSI nor the Conference for Food Protection accepts responsibility for quality or performance of the product or service.
7.2The ANSI-CFP accreditation mark shall not be used in such a way as to imply that ANSI or the Conference for Food Protection accepts responsibility for activities carried out under the scope of accreditation and/or certification.
7.3Upon withdrawal of ANSI-CFP accreditation, an accredited certification program shall immediately cease to issue certificates and any other materials displaying the ANSI-CFP accreditation mark or containing reference to ANSI-CFP accreditation is made.
7.4In the event that accreditation is withdrawn from a certification program, the certification body shall take all reasonable steps to ensure that its licensees immediately cease use of stationery, literature, and advertisements, bearing the ANSI-CFP accreditation reference.
7.5Any use of the ANSI-CFP accreditation mark that might contravene the conditions set out in this procedure will be considered a misuse of the mark and subject to legal action, which may include withdrawal of ANSI accreditation, publication of the transgression, or other action deemed necessary by ANSI to maintain the integrity of its mark.
8Modification of the ANSI Mark
8.1Upon any modifications to the ANSI-CFP accreditation mark, ANSI will immediately inform accredited certification bodies of its changes and proper use.
