Food Handler Certificates

ANSI accredits organizations that assure learning outcomes are met for food-handler training courses, evidenced by certificates. (ANSI doesn’t provide the training and certificates, but accredits other organizations to do so.)

Some states (California, Illinois, Arizona, West Virginia, Texas, New Mexico, and Hawaii) and local jurisdictions require that food handlers have a certificate from an ANSI-accredited organization. For a complete list of ANSI-accredited food-handler certificate programs, see:
