1Objective
1.1The objective of this notice is to provide notice of the required implementation period for ISO 14066.
2Definitions
2.1GREENHOUSE GAS PROGRAM: Voluntary or mandatory international, national or sub-national system or scheme that registers, accounts or manages GHG emissions, removals, greenhouse gas emission reductions, or greenhouse gas removal enhancements outside the organization or GHG project (per ISO 14064-3:2006 – Greenhouse gases – Part 3: Specification with guidance for the validation and verification of greenhouse gas assertions).
2.2VALIDATION: Systematic, independent and documented process for the evaluation of a greenhouse gas assertion in a GHG project plan against agreed validation criteria (per ISO 14064-3:2006).
2.3VERIFICATION: systematic, independent and documented process for the evaluation of a greenhouse gas assertion against agreed verification criteria (per ISO 14064-3:2006).
3Effective Date
3.1April 15, 2012
4Notice
4.1ANSI assessments will include the requirements of ISO 14066 starting on April 15, 2012. The attached document serves as guidance for VVBs transitioning from IAD MD 6, Annex A to ISO 14066. IAF MD 6, Annex A will continue to be mandatory for ISO 14065 accreditation until such time as it is removed and/or edited by the IAF.
4.2ISO 14066 for use in GHG programs and use in marketing claims by the VVB
4.2.1GHG programs may require that VVBs undergo or maintain professional requirements in addition to the requirements of ISO 14066. Such requirements, where applicable, take precedence. VVBs shall not be permitted to make claims implying that ANSI has accredited individual persons or validation and/or verification teams against ISO 14066.
