4Notice
4.1ANSI and Gold Standard signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which enables the two organizations to collaborate on the development of accreditation programs. ANSI is providing clarification on the process by which an ANSI accredited V/VB shall apply for Gold Standard recognition for the energy sector.
4.2A V/VB interested in Gold Standard recognition as a validation/verification body under ANSI's ISO 14065 accreditation program shall apply for the pilot program as follows:
4.2.1Accredited V/VBs shall complete an application for scope extension, GHG-PR-708 and pay a $2000 application fee.
4.2.2Applicant V/VBs shall start the application process starting with the preliminary application. More information on how to apply can be found at: http://www.ansi.org/Accreditation/environmental/greenhouse-gas-validation-verification/HowToApply.aspx.
4.2.3In addition to the application, the V/VB shall provide ANSI with documented evidence to demonstrate that it has followed its development process for adding new validation and verification criteria to its management system (Reference IAD MD 6, clause A.5.3.2). This includes documentation to demonstrate that Gold Standard requirements have been integrated into the ISO 14065 management system. For more information on Gold Standard Energy Requirements visit: http://www.goldstandard.org/resources/energy-requirements.
4.2.4ANSI shall review the application and within 30 days make a determination regarding the eligibility status of the V/VB. The results of the review shall be shared with Gold Standard. If ANSI requests additional documentation, the V/VB shall have 90 days to provide the requested documentation. If the requested documentation is not provided within 90 days the V/VB must restart the process including the $2000 application fee.
4.2.5In addition to the application, the V/VB shall also provide:
a)Evidence that it has signed the Gold Standard program agreement.
b)Evidence that it has attended and successfully completed the following required Gold Standard training courses:
1)The GSF introductory training, and
2)The Gold Standard cook stove methodology training (for V/VBs intending to undertake validation and verification of cook stove projects).
4.2.6Following the application review process and determination of eligibility to participate in the pilot, the V/VB is required to notify ANSI within 30 days' notice of all upcoming Gold Standard validation and verification activities. ANSI shall witness the first Gold Standard validation or verification undertaken by the ANSI V/VB. Gold Standard also reserves the right to attend all ANSI assessments as per the ANSI Gold Standard MoU. Failure to notify ANSI of all scheduled Gold Standard validations and verifications and failure to undergo witness assessment of the first Gold Standard validation or verification shall result in suspension or denial of accreditation.
4.2.7The results of the witness assessment shall be shared with Gold Standard and used to make a determination on the eligibility of the V/VB to provide ANSI Accredited validation and verification for Gold Standard energy projects.
4.2.8Gold Standard validations and verifications shall be subject to ANSI review and witness assessment throughout the three-year accreditation cycle and Gold Standard requirements and competence shall be assessed during the annual surveillance assessments and re-accreditation assessments.
4.3ANSI and Gold Standard may expand the scope of the program in the future to include other Gold Standard project types.
