ANSI Legal Issues Forum Overview

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Legal Issues Forum is held on an annual basis as part of World Standards Week. This year’s event examined the incorporation of essential patents into standards, including reasonable and non-discriminatory (RAND) terms, arbitration, injunction, dispute resolution, and more.

A keynote address was delivered by Oliver Smoot, former chairman of the ANSI Board of Directors and former president of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

An interactive panel session followed and was moderated by Professor Jorge Contreras of American University.

Participants

ANSI members and interested stakeholders including those from government, industry, business, consumer groups, and academia were encouraged to attend and share their perspectives, insights, and expertise on standard essential patents, RAND, and arbitration.
