Event Highlighted Standardization's Role in Supporting an "Innovation Nation"

To recognize and celebrate the critical role of various stakeholders across the standards community, over 200 stakeholders, including business leaders, industry, academia, and government, members of the broader U.S. standardization community gathered last night at the Fairmont Hotel Georgetown in Washington DC, for the 2018 U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day at an exhibition and gala dinner. The event included the presentation of the 2018 Ronald H. Brown Standards Leadership award, named after the late U.S. Secretary of Commerce.

WSD 2018 concluded with a baton pass to the 2019 administrating organization, the American Petroleum Institute (API).

"As co-chair of the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day Planning Committee, ANSI salutes every volunteer, standards developing organization, and our many other partners and stakeholders across the public and private sectors," said S. Joe Bhatia, ANSI's president and CEO. "Reflecting on 100 years of standardization leadership since our founding in 1918, ANSI is proud to serve as the 2018 Administrating Organization, and we gratefully acknowledge the impact our community has made in American progress, competitiveness, and quality of life."
