People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community. The
Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), a member and accredited standards developer of the
American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced the appointment of
Marty Davidson as vice president, engineering and network operations. He will be responsible for identifying technical trends and industry needs, driving the expansion of SCTE's professional development materials, and working with the cable technical workforce to build an increased knowledge base for the industry. Mr. Davidson most recently served as a vice president of Comcast for 10 years. Previously, he was vice president, telephony, and vice president, advanced operations and network management, at Comcast. Prior to that he spent five years with AT&T Broadband, rising to the position of vice president, telephony engineering. He began his career in the missile systems division of Raytheon, where he led a variety of projects related to the design, development, and testing of advanced missile systems. Mr. Davidson earned a B.S. in electrical engineering from Clemson University and an M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. SCTE is a non-profit professional association that provides technical leadership for the telecommunications industry and serves its members through professional development, standards, certification, and information. SCTE currently has nearly 14,000 members from the U.S. and 70 countries worldwide, and offers a variety of programs and services for the industry's educational benefit.
