People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community. The
Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET), a member and accredited standards developer of the
American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced the appointment of
Rick Dixon as RESNET's ANSI standard manager, overseeing all of the organization's new ANSI standard development activities. Mr. Dixon brings considerable skills and experience to this new position with RESNET. For 12 years he served as executive director of the Florida Building Commission, where he was responsible for strategic planning, research, and development of codes and support programs. He was previously the State of Florida's building and appliance energy efficiency programs manager, and also served on the faculty and as a research engineer for the University of Florida's mechanical engineering department. RESNET's first ANSI standards will focus on the rating of a home's energy performance and national home energy performance testing. RESNET works to develop a national market for home energy rating systems and energy efficient mortgages, developing standards in those areas and fostering collaboration and communication.
ANSI member and accredited standards developer the
American Society of Sanitary Engineering (ASSE), has appointed
Ramiro Mata as staff engineer. Mr. Mata will review product listing applications, modification requests, and laboratory test reports for technical content. He will also perform factory and laboratory audits, participate in the development, revision, and technical review of standards, and serve as ASSE's product standards coordinator. Mr. Mata has over twenty years of experience as a test engineer. Most recently, he served as senior project engineer for the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), certifying plumbing and gas products and conducting product evaluation tests on consumer goods. He previously held the position of process/validation engineer for a medical device manufacturer where he provided maintenance support, led the product improvement team, and generated and executed test protocols within U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines. ASSE works to continually improve the performance, reliability, and safety of plumbing systems. ASSE's product performance standards, professional qualifications standards, professional certification, and product listing programs are developed in the interest of public health.
