Jim McCabe, senior director for standards facilitation for the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), will deliver a keynote speech at the event that will discuss the important work done in this area by the Institute's Electric Vehicles Standards Panel (EVSP), which released its Standardization Roadmap for Electric Vehicles - Version 1.0 in April 2012. Mr. McCabe will also take part in a panel discussion that includes ANSI EVSP co-chair James Matthews, technical standards and standards policy director at Corning Incorporated, in his capacity as chair of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)'s Standardization Management Board (SMB). The symposium will open with a keynote address by David Dossett, European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) president, on the work carried out by his organization's eMobility co-ordination group. Technical experts from BMW Group, IBM, and ABB, among others, will also share information on new developments in the field.
The event continues a dialogue on opportunities to strengthen international cooperation on eMobility standardization which was the subject of a November 2012 Transatlantic eMobility Standardization Roundtable convened by ANSI, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), and CENELEC [see related news item], as well as a topic discussed at the Second Annual German-U.S. Standardization Roundtable organized by ANSI and DIN.
