On September 26-27 and November 21-22, ANSI is offering Course 806, Certificate Issuers' Accreditation Workshop, which is aimed at relevant stakeholders, including corporations and government agencies, that are issuing certificates based on training or education courses, as well as human resources (HR) directors and others who are hiring or accepting individuals with such certificates. The workshop will be held over two days at ANSI's headquarters in Washington, DC, and will focus on introducing American National Standard ASTM E2659-09, Standard Practice for Certificate Programs, and the Institute's Certificate Accreditation Program (ANSI-CAP). Individuals attending the workshop will be instructed about the requirements for developing a quality education/training course and will examine relevant terminology, requirements for certificate issuers, and the significance and use of the standard.
On October 17-18, November 18-19, and December 9-10, ANSI will offer Course 627, Personnel Certification Accreditation Workshop, which is geared toward representatives of corporations, organizations, government agencies, and others who operate personnel certification programs and wish to learn more about the ANSI accreditation process. The two-day workshop, which will be held at ANSI headquarters, is designed to introduce interested stakeholders to the international standard ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024, General requirements for bodies operating certification schemes for persons. During the course, discussions will focus on building an understanding of the standard's requirements, its benefits, and why it has become the benchmark for personnel certification.
On October 29, ANSI is offering Course 287, The American Way: The American National Standard (ANS) Development Process, an educational course intended for staff from standards developing organizations (SDOs), standards committee members, technical experts, and others interested in learning more about how to develop American National Standards. The course, which will be held at ANSI's New York office, will look at all stages in the standards development process, as well as the accreditation process for developers of American National Standards.
On November 7-8, ANSI will offer a two-day ISO/IEC 17065 Training Workshop at ANSI headquarters that is designed to introduce interested stakeholders to the international standard ISO/IEC 17065, Conformity assessment — Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services, the international benchmark for product certification. Through the use of class exercises and practical examples, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the accreditation requirements contained in ISO/IEC 17065. They will gain insight into the types of documents and other content that can be used to demonstrate compliance with these requirements, and how content is examined during an assessment. Participants will also be given an overview of ANSI's accreditation process.
This fall, ANSI will also host two free webinars geared toward individuals seeking an in-depth knowledge of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) procedures, as well as constituents involved with ISO's U.S. Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs), Technical Committees (TCs), and Subcommittees (SCs). Course 205, ISO Secretariat Operations: Taking the Secret out of the Secretariat, which will be held November 13, will help stakeholders to understand all aspects of successful ISO committee management, as well as special issues directly involving Secretariats. On December 4, ANSI will offer Course 208, The Operating Procedures of U.S. TAGs to ISO: Strengthening the U.S. Voice in International Standardization, which will explore the process and operating procedures of ANSI-accredited U.S. TAGs to ISO, as well as present information about accreditation, rules for developing positions, and other related issues.
