Between June and September, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is offering a number of classes and workshops on key standards and conformance topics such as the American National Standard process and international standardization procedures, as well as ANSI's accreditation activities. Open to both ANSI members and non-members, the seven upcoming classes include five two-day workshops, one free webinar, and an ANSI education course.
On June 5-6 and September 11-12, ANSI will offer Course 627, Personnel Certification Accreditation Workshop, which is geared toward representatives of corporations, organizations, government agencies, and others who either operate a personnel certification program or seek to learn more about the ANSI accreditation process. The two-day workshop, which will be held at ANSI's Washington, DC, headquarters, is designed to introduce interested stakeholders to the international standard ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024, General requirements for bodies operating certification schemes for persons. During the course, discussions will focus on building an understanding of the standard's requirements, its benefits, and why it has become the benchmark for personnel certification.
On June 19-20 and September 18-19, ANSI is offering Course 806, Certificate Issuers' Accreditation Workshop, which is aimed at relevant stakeholders, including corporations and government agencies, that are issuing certificates based on training or education courses, as well as human resources (HR) directors and others who are hiring or accepting individuals with such certificates. The workshop will be held over two days at ANSI headquarters and will focus on introducing American National Standard ASTM E2659-09, Standard Practice for Certificate Programs, and the Institute's Certificate Accreditation Program (ANSI-CAP). Individuals attending the workshop will be instructed about the requirements for developing a quality education/training course and will examine relevant terminology, requirements for certificate issuers, and the significance and use of the standard.
On June 25, ANSI will offer Course 208, The Operating Procedures of U.S. TAGs to ISO: Strengthening the U.S. Voice in International Standardization, which will explore the process and operating procedures of ANSI-accredited U.S. TAGs to ISO, as well as present information about accreditation, rules for developing positions, and other related issues. This webinar is offered free of charge and all interested parties are encouraged to take part.
On July 16, ANSI is offering Course 287, The American Way: The American National Standard (ANS) Development Process, an educational course intended for staff from standards developing organizations (SDOs), standards committee members, technical experts, and others interested in learning more about how to develop American National Standards. The course, which will be held at ANSI's New York office, will look at all stages in the standards development process, as well as the accreditation process for developers of American National Standards.
On August 7-8, ANSI will offer a two-day ISO/IEC 17065 Training Workshop at ANSI headquarters that is designed to introduce interested stakeholders to the international standard ISO/IEC 17065, Conformity assessment — Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services, the international benchmark for product certification. Through the use of class exercises and practical examples, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the accreditation requirements contained in ISO/IEC 17065. They will gain insight into the types of documents and other content that can be used to demonstrate compliance with these requirements, and how content is examined during an assessment. Participants will also be given an overview of ANSI's accreditation process.
