ASIS Releases New Report on Security Metrics
ANSI member and accredited standards developer ASIS International's ASIS Foundation recently published a new document focused on metrics for measuring security performance in connection with corporate and organizational security management. The report, "Persuading Senior Management with Effective, Evaluated Security Metrics," draws on results gathered during a long-term research project overseen by the ASIS Foundation and includes a new tool intended to provide usable metrics for analyzing return on investment and fulfilment of organizational goals in connection with a given security program.
According to the report, the lack of suitable security metrics has forced executives to assess their security programs in an inconsistent, piecemeal manner. The report suggested that use of scientifically based metrics will better show how security programs and activities can add significant value for affected organizations.
