S. Joe Bhatia, president and CEO of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), will moderate a session at the 66th annual SES-The Society for Standards Professionals conference in Chicago on August 7-10, 2017. The event will include seven sessions covering the spectrum of private industry, government agencies, and standard developing organizations (SDOs), representing U.S., Canadian, and international interests.
Mr. Bhatia will moderate the session, Contextualizing Standards to Increase Understanding, on Wednesday August 9, from 1:30 - 3:00 PM. The session will underscore the value of standards and how participation in their development can be overlooked by non-standards professionals. Panelists will represent SDOs, industry and academic speakers.
Speakers will include Erik Puskar of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Alec McMillian, consultant, Rockwell Automation, and Signe Annette Bogh of Danish Standards (DS).
Jim Shannon, president of the IEC, is the scheduled keynote speaker. Additionally, two professional development courses will be offered on Monday, August 7: Fundamentals of Standards and Conformity Assessment and IEEE Standards University's Mars Space Colony Standardization.
The conference will be held at the Drake Hotel. For more information or to register, view the SES event page.
