The American National Standards Institute (ANSI), as part of its commitment to facilitate an open dialogue between the United States and China on standards and conformity assessment for greater market access, continues to implement Phase V of the U.S.-China Standards and Conformity Assessment Cooperation Program (SCACP). ANSI is currently calling for proposals for final series of workshops to be held before March 1, 2021. The workshop series aims to address relationship-building and knowledge sharing of best practices with Chinese counterparts.
The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) awarded ANSI the U.S. SCACP V in 2018 to host 20 workshops over 3 years. These workshops address industry-related standards, conformity assessment, and technical regulation issues and foster a technical exchange to decrease trade barriers and facilitate trade between the United States and China. ANSI works jointly with private-sector partners, allowing interested organizations to meet directly with key Chinese regulators, participate in the technical exchange, and promote their brand and exports.
Due to coronavirus-related travel and meeting restrictions, the U.S.-China SCACP V workshop series is now held virtually and in hybrid format—entailing in-person participation in China when appropriate, and virtual U.S. participation. ANSI welcomes feedback and workshop proposals for topics that may address relationship-building and knowledge-sharing of best practices with Chinese counterparts. Submissions can be sent to email@example.com no later than 12 noon (EDT) on November 30, 2020.
Interested private-sector organizations can complete the commercial benefit questionnaire (CBQ) and submit it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The CBQ requests information on the company’s relevant industry, any standards issues and priorities, the status of their current level of work in China, and what they hope to achieve through the workshop. Access the workshop proposal form and other information on the program website.
All other questions or feedback can be directed to email@example.com.
