People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.
The Toy Association, a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced that Pamela Mastrota is the new executive director of The Toy Foundation (TTF). In this role, she will lead TTF, the philanthropic arm of The Toy Association, guiding its operations, programs, administration, relationships, and fundraising and donor practices to support its mission.
Mastrota comes to TTF from Make-A-Wish Metro NY & Western NY, where she served as chief operating officer. There, she led all operations and grew volunteer numbers in underserved areas by 180 percent, recruited experienced and culturally diverse department heads, reduced the wait time to fulfill children’s wishes from two years to seven months, and reduced volunteer and staff turnover by 40 percent. Previously, she was president and CEO for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Long Island Chapter.
"The past year of extraordinary progress, innovation, and impactful grantmaking through the Trustees and staff of The Toy Foundation continues with the appointment of an exceptionally talented and accomplished executive leader in Pam Mastrota," said Steve Pasierb, president and CEO of The Toy Association. "Pam brings expertise as a COO and CEO in both the major nonprofit and private sectors together with skills in fundraising and program growth management that are certain to benefit the children the Foundation serves, and call deserved attention to the deep philanthropic commitments across the toy and play community."
Frauenhofer, an ANSI member, has appointed Elizabeth von Hauff as director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Organic Electronics, Electron Beam, and Plasma Technology FEP in Dresden.
Von Hauff brings with her an international scientific career, with research focusing on novel technologies for electronics, energy technology, and sensor technology. She is an associate professor of physics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, as well as an associate editor of the Journal of Materials Chemistry from the Royal Society of Chemistry. Previously, she held a joint appointment as associate professor in solar energy between the Institute of Physics at the University of Freiburg and the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE).
"Innovative technologies in the field of surface treatment, vacuum coating, and organic semiconductors, such as those developed by Fraunhofer FEP, are key elements for numerous branches of industry: from mechanical engineering and the packaging industry to medical technology, agriculture, and electronics,” said Reimund Neugebauer, president of Frauenhofer. “I am very pleased that we have been able to win over Prof. von Hauff, an internationally experienced expert who will enhance Fraunhofer FEP's portfolio of services in a scientifically excellent and customer-centric way."
