International Workshop on ISO 26000 Social Responsibility Standard Announced

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) will hold a workshop on ISO 26000, Guidance on social responsibility, on November 5-9, 2012, in Geneva. The event will provide the opportunity to exchange experiences on implementation of ISO 26000 around the world.

The ISO 26000 International Workshop will be divided into three elements, the second of which is open to all interested stakeholders:

ISO 26000, Guidance on social responsibility, is designed to assist public and private organizations in contributing to a more sustainable global economy by establishing common guidance on social responsibility concepts, definitions, and methods of evaluation. The International Standard was developed by the ISO Working Group on Social Responsibility (ISO/WG SR) [see related news item]. The ANSI-accredited U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to the ISO SR working group is administered by the American Society for Quality (ASQ).

    ISO 26000 Developing Country Workshop
    (by invitation only through National Standards Bodies)

  • November 7-8
    ISO 26000 Open Forum
    (open to all interested stakeholders)
    Keynote speakers from various stakeholder groups will share their experiences on the use of ISO 26000. The session will provide a showcase of presentations on social responsibility as well as an opportunity to ask questions about the use of the standard and its strengths and weaknesses.

    Post Publication Organization's (PPO) Strategic Advisory Group (SAG) Meeting
    (open to members only)

As the U.S. member body to ISO, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) encourages all interested stakeholders to attend. The event will take place at Palexpo (Grand-Saconnex, 1218 Geneva, Switzerland). Registration is required.
