Upcoming Webinar to Provide U.S. Input on Draft ISO/CEN Technical Specification for Labeling Manufactured Nano-Objects and Products Containing Manufactured Nano-Objects

6/29/2010

Register today for July 9 webinar

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the ANSI-accredited US Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO/TC 229, Nanotechnologies invites all U.S. interested stakeholders to provide input on a proposed draft Technical Specification (TS) that addresses the labeling of manufactured nano-objects and products containing manufactured nano-objects at an upcoming webinar, scheduled for Friday, July 9, 2010.

The TS, jointly developed by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) Technical Committee (TC) 52, Nanotechnologies, and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) TC 229, Nanotechnologies, is titled, Guidance on the labeling of manufactured nano-objects and products containing manufactured nano-objects. CEN holds the leadership of TS development activity.

As the nano-labeling document will likely have broad implications for a number of U.S. industry sectors, including food, cosmetics, and chemicals, the ANSI-accredited U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO TC 229 invites U.S. stakeholders to provide feedback on this draft TS at an upcoming webinar. The event will take place on Friday, July 9, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EDT. Registration is required.

The two-hour webinar will feature an overview of the current draft TS, including background information on its development, and will give participants an opportunity to ask questions and offer comments. These comments will be provided to the ANSI-accredited U.S. TAG for consideration in connection with the development of the U.S. position and vote on this draft document.
