SES Forms Partnership with SCC
SES - The Society for Standards Professionals, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has announced a new partnership with the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). SES and SCC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) indicating that they will collaborate to support the development and promotion of standards and conformity assessment professionals.
As part of MoU, the two organizations will:
Promote standards educational offerings
Spread relevant news for their stakeholders
Promote harmonization of North American standards and conformity assessment
Develop new programs for students and young professionals
ANSI and SES have a similar agreement to promote U.S. outreach.

ASAE to Hold Hill Event for Association Professionals
The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) has announced that American Associations Day 2017 will be held on March 15-16 in Washington, D.C.
The event will brings together association professionals, who can connect with Congressional offices and discuss issues important to their associations, from tax reforms to federal employee attendance at association meetings. Attendees can network with fellow association professionals and attend the ASAE Board Reception.
Association executives, staff members, and leadership volunteers are welcome to attend. Registration is free, and attendees from outside of the D.C. metro area who make Hill visits may be eligible for a scholarship to cover travel expenses.

NERC and IEEE Sign Agreement to Develop Joint Initiatives on Key Issues
The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and IEEE, both ANSI members and accredited standards developers, have agreed to partner on initiatives that support areas critical to both organizations, including bulk power system analysis, cyber security, and the interface between NERC reliability standards and IEEE equipment standards.
The organizations will coordinate their efforts to support the reliable operation of the bulk power system and address some of the challenges facing the industry. Areas of focus include system protection, power system modeling, inverter-based resources, technology integration, and cyber security.

OPEI Updates "Look Before You Pump" Campaign
The Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has updated its educational materials on ethanol fuels and outdoor power equipment.
The "Look Before You Pump" campaign advises that gasoline containing greater than ten percent ethanol (E10) can harm outdoor power equipment and small engine products. This includes lawn mowers, snow throwers, power washers, string trimmers, and chain saws. Other small engine equipment such as boats, snowmobiles, and utility vehicles would also be negatively impacted.
In response to the increase in higher ethanol fuel blends available at gas stations, OPEI updated its educational materials on the topic, which include information for consumers and dealers available for free download.
"Using fuel with more than 10 percent ethanol in any gasoline-powered outdoor power equipment can void manufacturer's warranties and damage the engine," said Kris Kiser, president and CEO of OPEI. "We hope that equipment dealers, manufacturers and suppliers will distribute these updated materials and remind consumers to ‘look before you pump'."
