People on the Move

10/13/2017
People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced two additions to its team.

Steve Silverman has joined AdvaMed as vice president of technology and regulatory affairs. In this role, he will be involved with the case for quality initiative, inspections, combination products, and the ophthalmic sector.

Mr. Silverman comes to the organization from McKinsey & Co., where he was a senior expert advising clients on regulatory strategies, compliance, and quality initiatives in the medical device and pharmaceutical arenas. Prior, he was the director of compliance at the FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH).

"Steve has a blend of experience in both regulatory affairs and client-focused consultation. He's someone who truly understands the intricacies and complexities of our industry but also has experience working with clients to support their needs and deliver results. We're glad to bring him on board," said Scott Whitaker, president and CEO of AdvaMed.

Fielding Greaves has been appointed AdvaMed's director of state government and regional affairs, leading the organization's first regional U.S. office. He will oversee AdvaMed's government affairs efforts in the western U.S., including developing and implementing advocacy strategies to influence policy issues at the state level.

Previously, Mr. Greaves was the legislative director for California Assembly member Jim Frazier. He worked as an aide for Senator Bob Wieckowski and Senator Richard Pan, and has also held roles as director for consulting firm JPM&M and policy assistant for the California Chamber of Commerce.

"Fielding has a reputation for getting things done and is experienced at building coalitions and forging consensus," said JC Scott, AdvaMed chief advocacy officer and head of external affairs. "He will add tremendous value and energy to the government affairs team and will be an asset to all our members, particularly those with a west coast presence."
