Mr. Pagano has extensive high-level experience in science, government, and environmental policy. Most recently, he served as an advisor to the natural science research units of the Smithsonian Institution. Prior to that he spent fifteen years at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), where he advised senior EPA management on national program areas and oversaw wide-ranging work on multi-pollutant air, energy, and transportation legislation.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Pagano served as a principal policy advisor to Senator Robert Torricelli (D-NJ), advising the Senator on a wide range of energy and environmental issues as well as drafting legislation, writing speeches, and coordinating hearings on his behalf. And he worked as an investigator and a project analyst in the State of Maine's Department of Environmental Protection. He has a master's degree in public policy and management from the University of Southern Maine and a bachelor's degree in environmental science from Colby College.ANSI organizational member and accredited standards developer the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) has announced the appointment of Megan Lehtonen to the newly created position of director of program development.
Ms. Lehtonen joins IAPMO from her previous position as president and co-founder of GreenPlumbers USA. She will continue the work she started there in 2009 as part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IAPMO and GreenPlumbers USA. This MoU called for the establishment of GreenPlumbers India, a national training and accreditation program designed to assist Indian plumbing contractors and engineers in understanding their role in environmental conservation and public health. Ms. Lehtonen will also work on the creation and fostering of GreenPlumbers China. These two international GreenPlumbers programs will train and deploy thousands of plumbing engineers and contractors to promote the benefits of water conservation and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, ultimately seeking a cultural change in consumer and plumbing behavior through the use of energy efficiency and water saving technologies. In her former role as president, Ms. Lehtonen supervised GreenPlumbers USA's operations and directed licensing and install programs.
