Green Seal Announces New Sustainability Blog
Green Seal, Inc., an ANSI organizational member and accredited standards developer, has officially launched a dedicated blog providing insight and advice on issues related to sustainability. The Green Seal Blog draws lessons from the organization's more than two decades of experience in the area of environmental certification and includes content relevant to a wide range of interested readers, including consumers, manufacturers, environmental activists, sustainability experts, and others.

The blog includes posts from Dr. Arthur Weissmann, Green Seal CEO, and Dr. Daniel Pedersen, Green Seal director of science and standards, among other experts. Recent blog posts have included a critique of the term "eco-friendly," as well as pieces looking at global ecolabels and environmental issues related to dishwashers and chemical products.

SCC Seeking Input on Canadian Standards Work
The Standards Council of Canada (SCC), coordinator of Canada's voluntary consensus standardization system, is encouraging interested stakeholders to complete a new survey on approaches to reducing duplication of effort in the Canadian standards development process.

The survey is part of a larger effort by SCC to improve the Canadian standards development system and to cut down on the number of duplications in proposed standards. The survey includes questions related to the proposed creation of centralized, transparent standards reporting system and a standards conflict resolution mechanism, among other proposed reforms.

ISSA Opens Voting for 2013 Innovation Award Program
ANSI member ISSA—The Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association recently announced the opening of voting for its 2013 ISSA Innovation Award Program, which gives interested members of the general public the opportunity to vote for the year's most innovative cleaning industry products and solutions. Voters can vote in each of the following categories:

  • Cleaning Agents
  • Dispensers
  • Equipment
  • Services and Technology
  • Supplies

To vote, go to www.issa.com/vote; voters are required to register for free here. All votes must be received by November 15, 2013.

ASIS International Applies for TAG Accreditation on Private Security Quality Management
ANSI member and accredited standards developer ASIS International has submitted an application for accreditation for a proposed U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Project Committee (PC) 284, Management System for Quality of Private Security Company (PSC) Operations - Requirements with Guidance.
