President Obama to Attend World's Largest Trade Show for Industrial Technology

The U.S. Department of Commerce recently announced that the United States is the partner country at Hannover Messe, the world's largest trade fair for industrial technology, scheduled for April 25-29 in Hannover, Germany. In support of this, the White House recently announced that President Obama will be at the event's opening ceremony on April 24, and will tour the fair with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The presidential visit and U.S. participation in the show is intended to underscore enduring political and economic ties between Americans and Germans and highlights U.S. commitment to trade and investment as drivers of job creation and economic growth on both sides of the Atlantic, according to the White House. President Obama's visit is also an opportunity showcase American innovation and ingenuity—which he recently highlighted in his final State of the Union address—and to highlight the U.S. as a prime investment destination.

The theme of the Hannover Messe 2016 is "Integrated Industry - Discover Solutions!"

Five trade shows make up the overall event, providing U.S. companies the opportunity to exhibit at an industry-specific venue, including:

  • Digital Factory

  • Energy

  • Industrial Automation

  • Industry Supply

  • Research and Technology

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) encourages relevant members to consider the opportunity to showcase at the event. For more about the particular products and sectors that fit into each pavilion, visit export.gov/hannovermesse or see the recent U.S. announcement.
