World Standards Cooperation to Host Academic Week in July

4/02/2010

Series of discussions aims to foster cooperation between academic institutions and the standards community

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) would like to inform all interested stakeholders that the World Standards Cooperation (WSC) Academic Week will be held in Geneva on July 5-9, 2010. The series of events aims to promote dialogue between academic institutions and the international standards community, to raise awareness, and to foster cooperation and possible joint initiatives.

WSC Academic Week was conceived by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and the International Telecommunication Union during the 2009 ISO General Assembly. The three organizations are sponsoring the initiative, which will be held in Geneva's International Conference Center (CICG).

All interested stakeholders are encouraged to participate in WSC Academic Week, including representatives of academic institutions, standards developing bodies, government agencies, and industry and stakeholder groups. Participation is free, and all sessions will be held in English. Click here to register.

A program for WSC Academic Week can be viewed here. Scheduled agenda topics include:

  • July 5-6: The International Cooperation on Education about Standardization (ICES) workshop, focused on the dialogue between "users" (industry, governments, standards developing organizations) and "providers" (academic institutions) of education services covering standardization
