UAE National Standards Body Releases Videos Highlighting ISO/IEC JTC 1
Two new videos released by the Emirates Authority for Standardization & Metrology (ESMA), the national standards body of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), highlight the work of International Organization for Standardization / International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC) Joint Technical Committee (JTC) 1, Information Technology. The videos offer an inside look into the activities of the JTC 1 Plenary held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), November 15-20, 2014. Jointly hosted by ESMA and the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), the 29th plenary provided opportunities for review of the committee's progress on key standardization of IT subject areas such as cybersecurity, smart cards, and user interfaces, among other activities.

Created in 1987, JTC 1 works to address the standardization needs of the global ICT industry, speeding the developmental process and the wide deployment of relevant standards. The U.S. plays a leading role in JTC 1, with ANSI holding the secretariat and Karen Higginbottom, director of standards initiatives at Hewlett-Packard, serving as JTC 1's chair.
