ANSI Signs MoU with Canada's Ontario Province for Greenhouse Gas Accreditation Program

3/01/2013
As part of its continuing commitment to enhance the accreditation program for greenhouse gas (GHG) validation and/or verification bodies (V/VBs), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Canadian province of Ontario, in connection with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment's GHG Emissions Reporting and GHG Verification Program.

ANSI is coordinator of the U.S. standards and conformity assessment system and administrator of an accreditation program for third-party bodies working to validate and verify GHG emission assertions for a broad spectrum of industries. Through the MoU, Ontario and ANSI agree to cooperate in the ANSI accreditation program for GHG V/VBs. This program evaluates conformance of V/VBs against the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) International Standard ISO 14065, Greenhouse gases - Requirements for greenhouse gas validation and verification bodies for use in accreditation or other forms of recognition.

Additional information about the Ontario GHG Verification Program is available here.
