People on the Move

10/14/2016

People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards and conformance community.

The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has named Robert Jensen its new president and CEO. He will assume the position on November 14, following the retirement of current president Mary Logan. Ms. Logan will hold a supporting role at AAMI in the last month of 2016 to facilitate a smooth transition.

Mr. Jensen is a longtime executive in the healthcare industry, as well as a former U.S. Marine officer in data systems and logistics. He has been with the MITRE Corporation since 2003, and currently serves as the vice president and director of the CMS Alliance to Modernize Healthcare (CAMH). Mr. Jensen also conceived of and established the MITRE Center for Transforming Health, which assists government health-related organizations with systems thinking, advancing technology, and transformative services to improve healthcare nationwide.

"Last fall, when I announced my intention to retire, it was important to me and the Board of Directors that we establish a process that would allow for the selection of a worthy and capable leader, and a smooth transition so that AAMI could continue its important work without missing a beat," said Ms. Logan. "I think we have succeeded in that goal. I love AAMI's mission and its members, and I feel confident that I will be leaving this incredible organization in good hands."

CSA Group, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has announced several new appointments to the organization's executive leadership team.

Vikki Dunn has been named executive vice president, strategic marketing and communications. In this role, Ms. Dunn will oversee market intelligence, corporate marketing, global public relations, government relations, internal and external communications, and digital media. Previously, Ms. Dunn ran Strategic Growth Advisors, which provided marketing consulting services focusing on business growth and creating value through strategic planning and market research.

Farukh Javed has been appointed vice president and chief information officer. He is responsible for developing and implementing the information technology strategy that will support the organization's corporate strategy. Mr. Javed will also lead CSA's global IT function. Prior to assuming this role, Mr. Javed was the CIO for GlaxoSmithKline Inc. in Canada. He also held a number of senior IT roles at Proctor & Gamble.

Kathryn Yung was promoted to vice president, deputy general counsel. She will lead the organization's legal affairs team. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Yung was in the UK as CSA's regional counsel for Europe. Previously, she was on the legal team for Imperial Oil's national retail operations.

The appointments were made in addition to those of Mary Cianchetti and Karim Nazarali.
