5/06/2011
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) invites its members to download a newly released report on the proposed revisions to China's Restrictions on Hazardous Substances (RoHS). The report outlines discussions held at a February 23 event in Beijing hosted by the ANSI Manufacturer Member Roundtable in China and the U.S.-China Business Council (USCBC). [see related news item]

RoHS Translation

As a benefit to full ANSI members, the ANSI Manufacturer Member Roundtable published an English translation of the Chinese document, Measures for the Administration of the Pollution Control of Electronic or Electrical Products.

For details, see related news item.

China notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) in October 2010 of proposed revisions to legislation guiding its use of toxic and hazardous materials in electronic and electrical products. The event on February 23 provided a venue for open, cross-sector discussion of the proposed revisions. Speakers included representatives of Chinese government agencies and groups involved with the RoHS implementation, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA), and the China Electronics Standards Institute (CESI), as well as industry leaders from IBM, Intertek, Dell, and IPC.

The report is available for download from the ANSI Member Library here.
