The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) will host a stakeholder session on December 11 to provide details on the U.S.-India Standards and Conformance Cooperation Program (SCCP) Phase II. ANSI recently signed a contract with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to facilitate the second phase of the program, which is sponsored by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) and serves to improve access for U.S. companies to the Indian market by boosting cooperation on standards and conformance issues.
All interested stakeholders are invited to participate in the meeting on December 11 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at ANSI's headquarters in Washington, DC (1899 L Street NW, 11th floor), to learn more about the project and opportunities for private sector participation. Interested participants are encouraged to RSVP to [email protected] by December 6.
ANSI signed the SCCP Phase II contract in October during the U.S.-India Commercial Dialogue roundtable hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce. During Phase II, ANSI will facilitate six workshop meetings in India, with the goal to facilitate interaction and engagement between the public and private sectors in the United States and India. The program will also include technical assistance to increase cooperation in the areas of standards, conformity assessment, and technical regulations in three identified sectors: smart and sustainable cities, water and sanitation, and clean energy.
Phase II builds off the first USTDA funded SCCP initiative, which included multi-faceted activities such as the expansion of the StandardsPortal and a series of workshops sponsored and co-organized by U.S. private-sector organizations.
