ANSI Launches Top Issues Portal to Track Emerging Priorities in Standardization

6/24/2010
In response to requests for a centralized resource on strategic and emerging issues facing both the Institute and its Federation of members, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has created a Top Issues tracking system. This unique service will aid ANSI members as they identify and track emerging issues affecting the standardization and conformance community, their constituents, and other stakeholders.

* Please note:

The Top Issues portal is only available to ANSI members. User ID and password credentials are required for access. If you are in need of credentialing please contact ANSI's membership department at [email protected].

The Top Issues portal details activities in which ANSI is already engaged or may become engaged. These include:
  • ANSI-led initiatives, including meetings or coordination activities

  • Activities in which ANSI governance leadership or staff participates on behalf of the Institute

  • Policy-level activities at the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)

  • ISO and IEC technical activities in which the U.S. has a leadership role

  • ISO and IEC technical activities in which the U.S. does not have a leadership role, but which are of strategic importance

The Top Issues portal is organized into six main issues: energy; global supply chain; horizontal considerations; sustainability; technology; and workforce. Each main issue is further broken down into a set of sub-issues, and each sub-issue explores the specific activities that are related to that sub-issue. Members may also search the Top Issues portal by keyword to see where particular issues cut across sectors.

"ANSI has developed the Top Issues tracking system to assist our members by sharing information and providing a one-stop point of access for new and noteworthy activities," said Brian Meincke, ANSI senior director of membership development. "We are pleased to offer this valuable and exciting service for the benefit of our membership."
