At its December meeting, ANSI's Personnel Certification Accreditation Committee approved the accreditation of IEnMP's Certified Practitioner in Energy Management Systems (CP EnMS) program, LIUNA's LIUNA Instructor program, AEE's Certified Energy Manager program, and TALPP's Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) program. Accreditation by ANSI signifies that these programs' procedures meet ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024, General Requirements for Bodies Operating Certification Systems of Persons.
The ANSI accreditation process, which involves both a review of each program's written application and an onsite visit to assess the accuracy of the submitted information, is designed to provide assurance that accredited certifiers are accurately assessing the skills and experience possessed by certified professionals, bolstering the mobility of these professionals and industry confidence in the legitimacy and accuracy of these certifications.
By adhering to a rigorous internationally recognized accreditation process, ANSI ensures that its accreditation work conforms to the highest accreditation standard and represents the best practices in the field. ANSI's personnel certification accreditation program was the first such program in the United States to fulfill the requirements of ISO/IEC 17011, Conformity assessment - General requirements for accreditation bodies accrediting conformity assessment bodies, which represents the global benchmark for accreditation body practice. ANSI is currently the only personnel certification accreditation body in the United States to meet nationally accepted practices for accreditation bodies.
