ANSI-HDSSC Welcomes New Public-Sector Co-Chair

1/22/2015

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Homeland Defense and Security Standardization Collaborative (HDSSC) has appointed Casandra Robinson, physical scientist in the National Institute of Standards of Technology (NIST) Standards Coordination Office (SCO), as its new public-sector co-chair. The ANSI-HDSSC works to identify existing consensus standards related to homeland security and defense, or if none exist, help government agencies and sectors requesting assistance to accelerate standards development.

At NIST SCO, Ms. Robinson is responsible for leading the development of documentary standards and standards-related policy activities. She coordinates with NIST technical units, other federal agencies, industry, and other stakeholders in the development of standards and conformity assessment needs and requirements. Prior to joining NIST, she was a program manager with the Department of Energy's Savannah River National Laboratory. She also previously served as the standards and conformity assessment lead for the National Institute of Justice Standards and Testing Program, supporting development of performance standards for public safety equipment.

Ms. Robinson works with the ASTM E54 Committee on Homeland Security Applications as the vice chair for E54.04, Personal Protective Equipment Subcommittee, and serves as the federal co-chair for the Standards Coordination SubGroup of the InterAgency Board for Equipment Standardization and Interoperability (IAB).

ANSI looks forward to working with Ms. Robinson along with Chris Dubay, vice president and chief engineer of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), who will continue to serve as the private-sector co-chair, in addressing issues of critical importance to the ANSI-HDSCC stakeholders.

"ANSI would like to express its deep appreciation to Gordon Gillerman of NIST, the previous ANSI-HDSSC public-sector co-chair," said Joe Bhatia, ANSI president and CEO. "His seven years of inspired leadership and contributions have been very important to the success of the collaborative."
