ASQ Offers Free Webinars on Outsourcing and Supply Chain
The American Society for Quality (ASQ), a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), is offering two free on-demand webinars that promote professional growth in a tough economic climate.

"Quality in Outsourcing" and "Improving Supply Chain Management" are available for downloading in the Manufacturing section of the ASQ Web site at www.asq.org/manufacturing/why-quality/overview.html. CEA Forecast Predicts Growth for Consumer Electronics in 2010
According to a semi-annual industry forecast released by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), an ANSI member, the consumer electronics industry will see a growth in revenue for 2010 over 2009 figures.

The report predicts that the industry will generate $165 billion in U.S. shipment revenues this year, which is a slight increase over last year, when the industry faced a decline. In particular, the wireless handset category is expected to have strong sales in 2010.

NCEES Launches New User-Friendly Website
NCEES, an ANSI member, has launched a new and improved website to allow users to find relevant information and services more readily. The site provides details on exams, records, licensure, credentials evaluations, and licensing boards for engineers and surveyors.

Color-coded tabs feature prominently on the website to allow quick and easy access to desired information. A members-only section provides licensure board members and staff, enforcement staff, and exam volunteers with information specific to each user.

For more information, see the NCEES news release.

NIST Website Celebrates 50 Years of Laser Technology
A new website developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), an ANSI member, details the 50-year history of the laser and NIST's many accomplishments with its technology.

Since the laser's invention in 1960, researchers at the NIST have helped turn lasers into tools that have redefined the measurement system, enabled the development of new technologies, enhanced understanding of science, and improved quality of life for Americans nationwide.

For more information, see NIST's 50th Anniversary of the Laser page.
