ANSI Announces New Accreditations Under its Personnel Certification Accreditation Programs

11/18/2013
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is proud to announce the recent accreditation of three organizations under the Institute's Accreditation Program for Personnel Certification Bodies. These groups - the Society of Industrial Security Professionals, Green Advantage, and NAESA International - join a community of 40 other personnel certification bodies with ANSI-accredited programs, covering a range of industry sectors involving more than five million professionals.

At its September meeting, ANSI's Personnel Certification Accreditation Committee approved the accreditation of NAESA International's Qualified Elevator Inspectors program, Green Advantage's Green Advantage Certified Practitioner (GACP) program, and the Society of Industrial Security Professionals' Industrial Security Professional program. Accreditation by ANSI signifies that these programs' procedures meet ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024, General Requirements for Bodies Operating Certification Systems of Persons.

The ANSI accreditation process, which involves both a review of each program's written application and an onsite visit to assess the accuracy of the provided information, is designed to provide assurance that accredited certifiers are accurately assessing the skills and experience possessed by certified professionals, bolstering the mobility of these professionals and industry confidence in the legitimacy and accuracy of these certifications.

By adhering to a rigorous internationally recognized accreditation process, ANSI ensures that its accreditation work conforms to the highest accreditation standard and represents the best practices in the field. ANSI's personnel certification accreditation program was the first such program in the United States to fulfill the requirements of ISO/IEC 17011, Conformity assessment - General requirements for accreditation bodies accrediting conformity assessment bodies, which represents the global benchmark for accreditation body practice, and ANSI is currently the only personnel certification accreditation body in the United States to meet nationally accepted practices for accreditation bodies. Accordingly, ANSI's accreditation program is recognized as a leader in personnel credentialing.
