NFPA Webinar Will Outline Changes to 2017 National Electrical Code
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), an ANSI member and audited designator, has announced that it will host a free webinar on the proposed changes to NFPA 70, National Electrical Code, for 2017. Five proposed changes will be discussed: fixed-resistance and electrode industrial process heating equipment; large-scale photovoltaic electric supply stations; energy storage systems; direct current microgrids; and microgrids.
The webinar will be held on July 20 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm EDT. Electricians, installers, contractors, designers, engineers, code enforcers, policymakers, and all interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend.

UL Launches Chemical Disclosure Tool for Transparency of Chemical Use in Products
Underwriters Laboratories (UL), an ANSI member and audited designator, has launched a comprehensive chemical disclosure tool: the Product Lens report. It was designed with LEEDv4 in mind, meeting the needs of architects and designers and facilitating adherence to green building standards.
"UL's Product Lens report is unique compared to other reports on the market because it is a hazard disclosure tool that adds context and greater transparency about where the hazards exist within the value chain. This prevents people from focusing on just the risk associated with chemicals and drawing potentially inaccurate conclusions that a product is harmful," said Alberto Uggetti, vice president and general manager of UL Environment. "It adds value to manufacturers who strive to be transparent in their chemical disclosures, and allows their buyers clarity of the actual results so they can make smart purchasing decisions."
AAMI Seminar Series on Patient Safety to Address Infusion Pumps
The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has announced the latest in its series of seminars on patient safety. Improving patient safety with infusion pumps: A systematic approach will address infusion pump safety and related issues, including common barriers to smart pump compliance and ways to reduce alarm fatigue. Attendees will also learn about a case study of a program for patient safety and smart pump compliance for one healthcare system.
The seminar, hosted by the AAMI Foundation's National Coalition for Infusion Therapy Safety, will be held on July 18 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm EDT. It is free for all interested stakeholders; attendees also have the option to pay $25 and receive CE credit.

NGWA to Host Free Well Water Webinars
The National Ground Water Association (NWGA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has announced a series of free webinars for private water well owners, local officials associated with well owners, and any interested stakeholders.
The first webinar in the series will be held on August 9 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm ET. Attendees will learn about well water disinfection, and how microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and protozoa can get into well water. Presenter Michael Schnieders, principal hydrogeologist and president of Water Systems Engineering, Inc. will also discuss when further actions beyond well disinfection may be needed.

Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems Applies for ANSI Accredited Standards Developer Status
The Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) has submitted an application for accreditation as an ANSI Accredited Standards Developer (SDO) and proposed operating procedures for documenting CAMTS-sponsored ANS. CAMTS's proposed scope of standards activity is accreditation standards for medical transport.
