ANSI to Hold May 19 Webinar on Next ISO Strategic Plan

5/02/2014

ISO Seeking Input from Members on Proposed 2016-2020 Strategy Document

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) recently announced that it will be seeking input from its member nations in connection with its proposed Strategic Plan for 2016-2020. As the U.S. national member body to ISO, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) will coordinate national input to this document through a series of webinars and an online survey designed to collect data from U.S. stakeholders. The first such webinar will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014.

The ISO Strategic Plan 2011-2015 - Solutions to Global Challenges was approved by ISO in 2010 [see related article]. ISO has now developed a Consultation for the ISO Strategic Plan 2016-2020 for review by its national member bodies.

ANSI's informational webinar on the proposed ISO strategic plan will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on May 19. This event will feature Rob Steele, ISO's secretary general, and is intended to set the stage for serious consideration of ISO's proposed strategic plan by U.S. stakeholders. The full webinar will be recorded and posted online to allow interested parties who are unable to take part in the event to review its contents. In June, ANSI will release an online survey designed to allow U.S. stakeholders to provide their input on ISO's proposed strategic plan. Additional webinars will be held by ANSI in July to provide an opportunity for discussion of a completed draft of ANSI's official response to ISO's call for feedback.

To take part in the entire review and input process - including the May 19 webinar, the online survey, and future planned webinars - you must register online. Participation is free for ANSI members and costs $50 for non-members. All individuals who register online will receive an email from ANSI providing information about how to connect to the May 19 webinar.

Consultation for the ISO Strategic Plan 2016-2020 is available online. All questions should be directed to Steven Cornish, ANSI senior program director for international policy (212.642.4969; [email protected]).
