1/21/2011
People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), an organizational member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has appointed Brian Raymond as director, technology and domestic economic policy. He will work with NAM members, the Obama Administration, and Congress to shape and advance pro-manufacturing positions on technology policy issues.

Mr. Raymond was most recently the deputy chief of staff for U.S. Representative Anna G. Eshoo (D-CA), where he was responsible for technology and telecommunications issues. He previously spent eight years in IBM's Washington office as part of the company's government relations team, leading numerous legislative campaigns on critical issues affecting IBM. He left IBM to launch the government affairs office of NetApp Corporation. He began his career at TechAmerica, working on domestic policy issues.

The NAM is an industrial trade association representing 11,000 manufacturing companies in all 50 states. The organization's mission is to be a powerful voice for the U.S. manufacturing community and the leading advocate for a policy agenda that helps manufacturers create jobs. The NAM works toward sensible government policies that reduce the cost of production and tear down barriers to exports.

He will oversee AHAM's ongoing and new appliance rating certification and verification programs. AHAM currently administers performance certification and verification programs for room air cleaners, room air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and refrigerators and freezers, and is developing verification programs for clothes washers and dishwashers.

Prior to joining AHAM, Mr. Hudnall worked for Euro-Pro Operating, LLC, as compliance manager and test/sustainability engineer. There, he led product safety compliance efforts across all product lines including portable and floor care appliances. He also previously worked at Sunbeam Household Products.

AHAM is a non-profit trade association representing manufacturers of major, portable and floor care home appliances, and suppliers to the industry.
