NAM Hosts Republican Presidential Forum on Manufacturing
On November 1, American National Standards Institute (ANSI) member the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) hosted the Republican Presidential Forum on Manufacturing in Iowa, bringing together Republican presidential candidates to discuss their plans to strengthen U.S. manufacturing and create jobs.

Broadcast live by Iowa Public Television and made available to other broadcasters for national coverage, the forum drew with Governor Rick Perry, Senator Rick Santorum, Representative Michele Bachmann, Representative Ron Paul, and Speaker Newt Gingrich.

IEEE International Electrical Vehicle Conference Set for March 2012
On March 4-8, 2012, ANSI member and accredited standards developer IEEE will host the 2012 IEEE International Electrical Vehicle Conference (IEVC) Technology, Engineering, Standards - Challenges and Opportunities in Greenville, South Carolina.

The conference provides a cross-organizational platform to exchange information among thought leaders of the fast-growing electric mobility ecosystem, and to discuss new trends in technology, engineering, standards, and deployment aspects on a global scale.

ASSE to Develop Joint Plumbing Dictionary
ANSI member and accredited standards developer the American Society of Sanitary Engineering (ASSE) is partnering with the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) to develop a joint plumbing dictionary, with the aim of bringing the plumbing community one step closer to having consistent, globally accepted terminology.

The dictionary will combine the current publications issued by each organization, which share a focus on providing technical expertise to ensure that plumbing systems are designed, installed, and maintained in the interest of public health and safety.

TUV Rheinland Applies for Accreditation as an ANSI ASD
TUV Rheinland has submitted an application for accreditation as an ANSI accredited standards developer. TUV Rheinland's proposed scope of standards activity would encompass photovoltaic modules and their components, photovoltaic racks, photovoltaic trackers, and photovoltaic power plant components.
