New ISO/IEC Standard for Terminology for Energy Efficiency and Renewables
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) have announced the joint development of a future International Standard that will identify and define terms used in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. ISO/IEC Joint Project Committee (JPC) 2, Energy efficiency and renewable energy sources - Common terminology, will begin work on the document that is intended to support the metrics, calculation and assessment methods, methodologies, and best practices needed by policy makers, industry, standards writers, and other stakeholders.

NFPA to Host Aviation Fire Safety Symposium
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Aviation Section will host an Aviation Fire Safety Symposium on Sunday, June 6, 2010, in Las Vegas. The symposium will highlight the latest information on aircraft facilities fire protection, fire protection of composite aircraft, proposed fire safety improvements to heliports, the development and application of aircraft rescue and firefighting requirements, and real-world aircraft incident case studies. The symposium will be held one day before the annual NFPA Conference & Expo at the same venue, the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. NFPA is a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

ANSI Approves U.S. TAG to ISO TC 243 on Consumer Product Safety
The ANSI Executive Standards Council (ExSC) has approved the accreditation of a new U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO Technical Committee 243, Consumer product safety, with Underwriters Laboratories (UL), a full ANSI organizational member, appointed as TAG Administrator.

ASTM Applies for U.S. TAG to ISO PC 250 on Sustainability in Event Management
ASTM International, a full ANSI Organizational Member, has submitted an application for accreditation for a proposed U.S. TAG to ISO Project Committee (PC) 250, Sustainability in event management , and a request for approval as TAG Administrator. The proposed TAG intends to operate using the Model Operating Procedures for U.S. Technical Advisory Groups to ANSI for ISO Activities as contained in Annex A of the ANSI International Procedures.

BPI Applies for Accreditation as an ANSI Accredited Standards Developer
The Building Performance Institute (BPI), a new full ANSI Organizational Member as of October 2009, has submitted an application for accreditation as an ANSI Accredited Standards Developer and proposed operating procedures for documenting consensus on proposed American National Standards. BPI's proposed scope of standards activity is to develop and maintain standards related to assessment and measurement of the energy efficiency of existing residential buildings.
