The Security Industry Association (SIA), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), announced that Geoff Kohl has joined the organization as director of marketing. In this role, Mr. Kohl will bring increased awareness of SIA and its offerings through strategic marking direction.
Mr. Kohl brings with him many years of experience in the security industry. In 2004 he launched SecurityInfoWatch.com as founding editor-in-chief and associate publisher. He later served as the editorial director of Cygnus Security Group. He also founded the Secured Cities conference, an educational program and networking event for urban security professionals.
"Geoff's interest in technology, experience within the security industry, initiative, and commitment to developing new and creative marketing approaches will enable SIA to communicate its value proposition even more effectively to our existing membership and potential members," said SIA CEO Don Erickson. "I look forward to Geoff both leading our marketing efforts and contributing to an enhanced SIA content strategy that delivers on our promise to serve as a catalyst for our members' success."
The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has announced that Diep Tu is the new executive director of the Florida Prestressed Concrete Association (FPCA). FPCA is one of 12 regional affiliate organizations of PCI that supports members at the local level.
At FPCA, Mr. Tu promotes precast/prestressed concrete construction by working with architects, engineers, city and county agencies, and students and professors, among others. He also develops continuing education opportunities and marketing strategies for the building and transportation markets.
Mr. Tu moves to FPCA from the Florida Concrete & Products Association (FC&PA), where he was the director of engineering for more than 16 years. There, he promoted concrete products for parking lots and roads and oversaw related education activities in Florida. Previously, he was the rigid pavement research engineer for the Florida Department of Transportation's Materials Research Office.
