ANSI Seeks Comments on Proposed New ISO Field of Technical Activity on Nursing Service Standards

12/16/2013
The Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran (ISIRI), the Iranian member body to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), has submitted a proposal for a new field of ISO technical activity focusing on nursing service standards in connection with education and management. As the U.S. member body to ISO, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) invites all interested stakeholders to submit comments on the proposal by Friday, January 10, 2014.

The proposed field of technical activity would focus on standardization associated with nursing services, including methods and guidelines for nursing process education, nursing care evaluation, and clinical supervision, as well as definitions and key terms in connection with nurse services.

All comments on this proposal should be sent to Steven Cornish, ANSI senior director for international policy ([email protected]). Feedback received by the January 10 deadline will be reviewed and compiled for the recommended ANSI position and comment, which will then be presented to the ANSI ISO Council for formal approval.

The full proposal filed by ISIRI is available here.

ANSI has published an explanatory information document outlining the process used to develop U.S. positions on issues and activities under consideration by ISO and IEC. Click here to download the document.
